Week 11: A Look in the Rear View Mirror

A glance in the rear view mirror while driving is considered a safe driving habit. Granted, watching the rear view mirror more than looking through the windshield isn’t very practical unless, of course, you intend to be backing up. This week I had to remind myself that negativity of others could be creeping up on me. Yes, if we really do examine negativity it is “creepy” and can be infectious.

Choice is a powerful thing. Once I realized the negativity that was creeping up on me, I was able to choose to turn my steering wheel another way and take a different road – one that wasn’t affected by the negativity of others. My choice to be thinking only positive thoughts (which I was supposed to be doing on my mental diet anyway) was very helpful. It was almost as if I had washed the windshield on my car and was seeing even more clearly and enjoying the beauty so much more.

How interesting is that?! How powerful are positive thoughts and a positive attitude! Yes. a glance in the rear view mirror of life is probably a safe driving practice, to keep us aware of negativity that could creep up on us. It is so much more pleasant and productive to drive looking through a sparkling clean windshield!

While reviewing the effects of negativity in Think and Grow Rich–a book we read in a previous master mind group with Mark J.– it points out that fear of criticism robs man of his initiative, destroys the power of imagination, limits his individuality, and takes away self-reliance. I am so grateful for the awareness and understanding of the laws taught in the Master Key Master Mind Alliance that are enabling me to be more self reliant, because it is key to my success.
